Frances Pauline "Pat" Landers, age 90, of Houston, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Monday, August 15, 1916. Pat was the daughter of a Jersey Dairy Farmer and grew up in the Cypress area. She attended Cy-fair High School from its first opening day until her graduation, and was also on the Women's Basketball Team. Pat loved telling the story in which she had to get up at 4:30 every morning to help her father milk the cows, then got on the bus taking her to school. In the afternoons she returned home and once again helped her father milk the cows. This was her daily routine until her 2 older brothers Joseph and Albert returned home safely from World War II.

Pat was always very independent and after her high school graduation she moved to Houston, where she obtained a roommate and an apartment. She worked as a secretary for the railroad and met her future husband Jim on a blind date with friends. Later she worked as an administrative assistant at an oilfield related business until she went to Houston Community College and studied drafting while continuing to work. She worked as a drafter for this employer until learning her male coworkers were earning much more money. Since Pat was ahead of her time she quit and went back to HCC, where she studied the exciting new field of work processing.

Later Pat happily worked as a Word Processing Specialist then Supervisor at Chevron for many years and then, at the age of 70, obtained a job in the Family Life Ministry of the Houston-Galveston Dioceses of the Catholic Church. She was a very active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. In this capacity she not only administered the Host to those attending Mass, but also took the host to church members whom due to illness, could no longer attend Mass. Pat was also very active with the Fifty Plus Club of St. Matthews. She loved to travel and visited Canada, Europe, Mexico and Ireland.

Pat is survived by her 2 daughters, Patty and her husband Ken Sparks of Ft. Worth and Susan Landers of Houston; her 3 grandsons Justin and his wife Elizabeth Sparks, Tyler Sparks and Samuel Gross; and her 3 great grandchildren John Marshall, Caroline and Lucy Sparks; her two younger siblings Leon and his wife Claude of Denver and Margaret Luedeker and her husband Robert of Houston; numerous nephews and nieces; and very special friends Richard and Yvonne Hood of Austin.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Elizabeth, husband Jim Landers, two older brothers Joe and Albert and her son-in-law Robert Gross.

Pallbearers include Richard Hood, Anthony Bunn, Steven Braunagel, Timothy Braunagel John Luedeker, David Braunagel, and Samuel Gross.

Pat's visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM and will be followed by a Rosary from 7:00-8:00 PM on Thur. 8/18/16 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service will be followed by Interment on Fri. 8/19/16 at 2:00 PM also at Earthman Resthaven.
